The Schuhfried VTS enables computer-assisted application of a large number of highly diverse psycho-diagnostic tests and measuring procedures. In developing the system much emphasis was placed on transparent structure and largely uniform design. It is therefore simple to operate and easy to understand and does not require any special computer skills.
The VTS basic module is required for administration of any of the available tests.
The Schuhfried VTS supports the administration of both single tests and test batteries. Many of the single tests are available in different test versions. These test versions may differ, for example, in terms of test duration or difficulty or may be parallel forms. They are characterized by different parameters reflecting specific test requirements. They have been designed for administration to a specific population (e.g. psychiatric patients, children, etc.) or for special measuring purposes (e.g. repeated measurements). Test batteries are compiled from the available single tests and test versions.
This test makes a theoretically grounded and valid assessment of essential aspects of the stress experience and the dissatisfaction in a professional context possible.
Assessment of stress and dissatisfaction in the professional area. The scales for the assessment of the subjective stress in different areas of life try to achieve a description of different environments that are perceived as stressful.
Main areas of application: organizational psychology, health psychology, and clinical psychology.
What was tried here was to use a novel approach to record stress at the work place in the sense of Lazarus' theory. What was to be recorded were not momentary emotional states (this methodology could only be applied directly to the work situation), but rather chronic episodes of stress experience. The scales for the assessment of subjective stress in different areas of life try to achieve a description's as exact as possible - of different environments in the episodes that are perceives as stressful.
After the instruction the questions are presented on the monitor one after the other. The respondent answers by "Applies" or "Does not apply". A one-time correction and the skipping of items are permitted. All unanswered items are presented again at the end of the test, but there is no obligation to answer.
One test form with 55 items is available. The selection of individual scales for test presentation is possible.
The raw scores of the scales work stress, work dissatisfaction, stressful work climate and lack of relaxation are calculated. The answer time for each item is recorded. The printout contains a result table with raw and standard scores for all scales, the working time, and as an option, a test profile as well as item analysis protocol of the respondent's answers.
The reliabilities (inner consistency) of the scales work stress, work dissatisfaction, stressful work climate and lack of relaxation vary between r=0.67 and r=0.88.
A plethora of studies on the validity of the SBUSB was conducted, in which the construct validity of the test was proven.
