We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented HR Generalist to support daily human resources operations and ensure compliance with California employment laws. The HR Generalist will manage a broad range of HR functions including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, compliance and assist in policy implementations. The HR Generalist will manage the payroll administration, including employee records, deductions, benefits and compliance at the Novato location and support our location in Campbell. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities on a daily basis. This role serves as a key resource for employees and management while helping foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture. This role will collaborate with the global Human Resources team to support and contribute to strategic global initiatives and cross-functional projects as required. This position reports to the Finance and Human Resources Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer day-to-day HR operations and employee support
  • Coordinate recruitment activities including job postings, screening, interviews, and onboarding
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS data accuracy
  • Assist with benefits enrollment, leave administration, administration and workers’ compensation processes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including CFRA, FMLA, ADA, accommodation processes, harassment prevention requirements and employee privacy requirements.
  • Support employee relations matters and assist with conflict resolution
  • Prepare and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates
  • Track mandatory trainings and compliance requirements
  • Support performance review processes and employee development initiatives
  • Process employment status changes including promotions, transfers, and terminations
  • Administer and process payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Participate in HR projects, audits, and process improvements
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or have 3-5 years in a supervisory role as an HR Generalist combined with college credits in Business Administration or Human Resources
  • Strong knowledge of California labor laws and HR compliance requirements
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
  • Experience supporting multi-site or multi-state operations
  • Knowledge of wage and hour laws, leave management, and employee relations investigations
